EQUITY & CIVIL RIGHTS COMPLIANCE
Equity & Civil Rights Compliance (ECRC) supports Georgia State’s commitment to inclusive excellence by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local civil rights laws and regulations prohibiting discrimination, harassment and retaliation for engaging in protected activity, as well as federal affirmative action and equal employment opportunity requirements.
ECRC fulfills this mission via policy development, implementation, and enforcement; investigation of complaints and potential policy violations, oversight of related procedures and the proactive provision of education and guidance to the university community.
ECRC also houses the university’s Title IX Coordinator and Americans With Disabilities Act/Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 Coordinator.

Investigations & Hiring
We conduct investigations into complaints of prohibited discrimination and harassment based on the protected categories (race, color, religion, ethnicity/national origin, sex [including pregnancy, gender identity and sexual orientation], age, genetic information, protected veteran status and disability) and retaliation for protected activity.
The Complaint Process
Georgia State University is committed to creating fair and equitable environments for all members of the University community. Pursuant to this commitment, the University prohibits discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, ethnicity/national origin, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), age, genetic information, protected veteran status, and disability (the “Protected Categories”). The University also prohibits retaliation for protected activity, which is action taken to assert the rights to be free from discrimination and harassment.
Should any member of the University community experience discrimination, harassment (including sexual harassment or other sexual misconduct), or retaliation due to a protected disclosure or activity, please contact the Investigations unit of Equity & Civil Rights Compliance.
